JOR NRC support to Jordan INGO Forum (JIF)

As a result of the protracted nature of the Syrian crisis and the continued need for collaborative engagement among humanitarian and development actors within the response, the support to Jordan INGO Forum (JIF) is signifcant due to the increased demand for coordination, representation, and collective advocacy efforts from INGOs operating in Jordan, in addition to exploring the nexus between humanitarian and development assistance and pushing forward and advancing the localization agenda.

Ukraine Field Office Emergency Activities

After the SET phase, the SHA Base of Operation BoO in Lviv continues to coordinate and implement humanitarian projects targeted to the support of the most affected population in Ukraine in initiating new project lines, implementing ongoing activities and complementing the Swiss cooperation programme in the country.

Provision of Resilience Orientated & Targeted Education and Child Protection Technical Services (P.R.O.T.E.C.T. 3)

Children and caregivers bear the brunt of the conflict in Northeast Nigeria, which hampers access to education and exposes them to multiple types of violence, abuse and exploitation. This initiative aims to enhance protection and learning outcomes for children through the provision of quality integrated child protection and formal and non-formal education services, as well as strengthened community-based support mechanisms. These combined actions will thus result in a safer environment for children and their families.

Programme de sécurité nutritionnelle des populations hôtes et refugiées du Logone oriental au Tchad

S’appuyant sur l’approche Nexus développement – humanitaire, la Suisse se propose de contribuer à l’amélioration de la sécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle des populations hôtes et les réfugiés. A travers la mise en place de l’approche multisectorielle, la DDC contribue ainsi à la réduction de la vulnérabilité ainsi qu’à la cohabitation pacifique et la prévention des conflits réfugiés, déplacés et populations hôtes. Aussi, le projet vise la redynamisation des mécanismes des coordinations des acteurs pour favoriser la pérennité des actions.

Northern Ethiopia Crisis - Child Protection in Afar

In the Afar Region, the Nothern Ethiopia conflict generated massive needs for protection and psychological support to children and to abused women and girls. Under this project, UNICEF will further train and capacitate a local NGO active in the implementation of mental health and family-based care, allowing them to extend their services to new Woredas. This project is aligned with Switzerland’s commitment to localisation.

Regional Protection and Migration Programme

Latin America faces the second largest forced displacement crisis in the world with 7.1 million people forcibly displaced from Venezuela, Central America, the Caribbean and other continents. 6.2 million more are displaced in their own country. Persons in human mobility need protection against gender-based violence, exploitation and exclusion. In Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, Switzerland addresses causes and consequences of displacement, providing aid, striving for integration and supporting actors to protect the most vulnerable.

CARE 4 Ukraine: Cash Assistance and Resilience for Ukraine

Caritas Switzerland (CACH) together with Caritas Ukraine (CUA) implement an integrated programme combining multi-purpose cash assistance (MPCA) with mental health and psychosocial support to improve the resilience and protection of vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDP), host communities and returnees in central and southern parts of Ukraine. While CUA carries the main responsibility for the implementation of this cash assistance and resilience project, CACH provides technical support for the scale up of the response.

Swiss Red Cross: Emergency WASH assistance to IDPs

According to the National WASH Cluster there are currently approximately 124’000 IDPs hosted in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. The Swiss Red Cross, together with the ICRC and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society will assist the authorities in Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil oblasts to cover the immediate needs of the IDPS water, sanitation, hygiene and shelter/habitat.


Empowering Municipal Councils

Municipal Councils have, according to the legislation, a very important role to play in local governance. However, councillors often lack the necessary knowledge to fulfil their responsibilities. Through the project, capacities of councillors will be enhanced, citizen participation in decision making promoted and legal framework adjusted, enabling councillors to fulfil their role and to become more independent from the executive branch.


Community based early recovery and resilience in Afghanistan (Pillar II of the Aga Khan Foundation Emergency Appeal)

Trough Aga Khan Foundation emergency appeal for Afghanistan, SDC contributes to the economic and social recovery of 8 mountainous provinces and approx. 3,5 Milo. vulnerable women and men. Together with two other projects of the same organisation which provide humanitarian aid and livelihood and food security to the same communities, Switzerland is among the few donors supporting remote regions.


KENYA - Strengthening Livestock Sector in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) Counties

01.04.2022 - 31.12.2027

60% of the population in northern Kenya depends on livestock production in an environment of recurrent droughts and natural resource-based conflicts. The programme will contribute to poverty reduction, improved resilience to shocks and enhanced socio-economic inclusion of pastoralist and agro-pastoralist men and women by supporting climate-smart livestock production, improving rangelands management and promoting peaceful coexistence of communities.
