In the early 16th Century, the discovery of land to the West gave rise to a New World, with transformational opportunities for Europe. Today, technological advance and Digitalization transforms our world anew. But harnessing these opportunities will not be easy. The World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Risk Report reflects a world beset by challenges: from sluggish economic growth, to rising populist sentiment and a capitalist system in need of reform. Today’s session therefore asks what these complex and interconnected global risks mean for Europe. Specifically, how can it address them to succeed in the new world ahead?
