The transition to a green economy certainly has a price but acting now and preventively is much cheaper than to repair huge damage later – says Ambassador of Switzerland in Serbia and to Montenegro, H.E. Urs Schmid in his interview for portal eKapija. According to him, Serbia has already made significant progress in terms of alignment with the EU acquis on waste, air quality and nature protection. Still, further key strategies and plans need to be developed and adopted. He discovers key fundamental principles of Swiss Environmental law which could be also copied in Serbia.

Today we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Basel trams circulating in the city of Belgrade. This jubilee coincides with the 30st anniversary of Swiss-Serbian cooperation. We will be celebrating this milestone of bilateral cooperation with a number of events in the upcoming months, but today’s event marks the official start of the commemoration and I warmly thank the authorities of the City of Belgrade, and especially Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic for this warm welcome reception to kick-off today’s different activities.
