On occasion of the Italian Language Week Celebrations 2017, the Embassy of Switzerland in India, the Bikaner House New Delhi and the Blind Relief Association New Delhi present 'Music in the Dark' with Sandro Schneebeli & Max Pizio.

In a dark room, without any information in advance, experience sounds, voices, tones and music with closer sensitivity, Sandro Schneebeli and Max Pizio offer an intense experience with sound, touch, smell…except vision. In a surprising role reversal, audience will be “assisted” to their seats by visually challenged persons. Discover inspiring musical notes from the Italian speaking region of Switzerland – the Ticino.

For all concerts: Duration: 60 min. First-come, first-served basis | Your e-registration does not guarantee a seat. Please arrive 30 min. before concert begins and collect your pass from the welcome desk | Mobile phones must be switched-off | Children above 12 are welcome.

Caution: All concerts will be held in pitch dark atmosphere. You will be assisted in the concert hall by visually challenged persons. We do not encourage persons having phobia of the dark to attend.

Meet our musicians from the Italian speaking region of Switzerland:

Sandro Schneebeli was born in 1974 in Lugano, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. He studied music at the “Swiss Jazz School” and then began to work professionally as a freelance guitarist, composer and producer. Sandro has performed widely at national and international events and worked on several music projects. He travels frequently and collaborates with musicians from different musical traditions and cultures.

His work includes travelling and working with musicians from different musical traditions and cultures, including the United States, Madagascar, India, Greece, Italy, Australia, New Zeland, Kosovo, Luxemburg, Senegal, England, Armenia, Georgia, Estonia, Perù, Egypt, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Jamaica and many more.

Max Pizio was born into a family of musicians. He received a formal training in music at the Music Conservatory in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland and completed his musical education with the clarinet, the Akai double base, flute and drums. Max is also active as a composer, arranger, producer and publisher and defines himself as a "sound designer". He works with musicians in the genres of contemporary, fusion, jazz and ethnic music.

He continued his studies at the American Clavé in Cologne and the Berklee School in Boston, where he received the diploma in orchestral arrangement and the masters in saxophone. Max is the founder of the Centro Studi e Ricerca Musicale (CSRM) in Giubiasco (TI).
