Travelling to Korea

Swiss and Liechtenstein nationals are temporarily exempt from obtaining the K-ETA prior to their travels. The government of the Republic of Korea has extended the temporary exemption period until 31 December 2025. More information
1. Travel Admin App
Download the free Travel Admin app, which provides support for Swiss citizens in preparing trips. It also offers useful information and services for travel. If you register your own trip in the app, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs can send you specific information and, if necessary, contact you if there is a serious crisis where you are.
2. Emergency Ready App
In addition, the Embassy recommends tourists and residents in the Republic of Korea to download the Emergency Ready App offered by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS). The app provides real-time disaster alerts, important emergency and Embassy contact details, and information on the nearest shelters or medical facilities. You may find more information on the National Disaster and Safety Portal.
3. Baro Emergency Reporting App
Baro is a reporting app, which allows people to report any emergency to police, fire and coast guard by selecting an image or writing a short text. The app can be dowloaded, when you are in Korea and have a korean mobile number. Click here to scan for IOS (JPG, 34.3 kB)or Android. (JPG, 33.8 kB)
4. Renting Cars in the Republic of Korea
Tourists intending to drive in Korea should get international driving license issued in Switzerland before coming to Korea. Please make sure that the field 'International Driving Permit Number' is filled out on the front page of the document. Failure to provide this information may result in car rental companies refusing your booking.
