Mr Cassis visited a kindergarten in the suburb of Ulaanbaatar city. SDC works to introduce public finance management through the demonstration of energy efficiency. 28 old and rundown kindergartens and schools will be thermo-retrofitted to reduce energy consumption in the two largely populated districts of Ulaanbaatar's suburbs. © FDFA

Swiss delegation was introduced to the urban challenges of Mongolia at the kindergarten in the suburb of Ulaanbaatar. Meanwhile, they learned how Mongolian children play with traditional toys made with sheep ankle bones. © FDFA

On the second day of his visit to Mongolia, Federal Councillor Cassis had the opportunity to visit a herder family. He was welcomed by Mr Namgar, who greeted him with his snuffing bottle as a part of Mongolian greeting ritual. © FDFA

At Mr Namgar's spring camp, Mr Cassis was introduced to the works of the Green Gold Project by SDC. The project works to preserve fragile rangelands while it supports herders' livelihoods through improving animal health and better market access of the livestock products. © FDFA

Thanks to the introduction of combing camel and yak wool, herders learned to comb the wool of their camels and yaks. As a result, herders benefit higher income by supplying fine fibre to the Mongolian textile producers. © FDFA

Swiss delegation stopped by the Polytechnic College in Ulaanbaatar, which has benefited from the SDC's support. Improved vocational education means more young people gain practical training and skills for better employment. © FDFA

At the Polytechnic College, Mr Cassis has an opportunity to learn about Mongolia's labour market challenges, and the way how Switzerland contributes to tackle the mismatch between supply and demand at the labour market. © FDFA

Mr Cassis wrapped his tour by a visit to the gold processing plant in Mandal soum, Selenge aimag. It is a self-sustaining, women-led business. The mercury-free gold processing technology was first introduced by the SDC's Sustainable Artisanal Mining Project. © FDFA
