Sustainability is a key topic in Swiss foreign policy and forms an integral part of the Embassy's projects. The Embassy continuously works to ensure that our everyday activities and engagement are sustainable. This includes implementing the FDFA's sustainability goals and those of our local Embassy. We have taken various measures to achieve this, including:

  • Installation of solar panels on the Embassy roof and obtaining a certificate for 100% green electricity from the electricity provider Innogy.
  • Replacement of the petrol-powered Embassy car with an electric vehicle, which is partly powered by solar energy generated by the Embassy.
  • Design of a garden on Embassy grounds to support local biodiversity.
  • Continuous waste separation, recycling and use of environmentally friendly cleaning products.

To ensure that our measures have a greater impact, we are part of the City of Warsaw's “Partnership for Climate” within which we implement various initiatives in cooperation with Polish and international partners. The partnership focuses on energy efficiency, renewable energies, environmentally friendly transport and the promotion of an ecological lifestyle. We are also a founding member of Warsaw’s #SustainableEmbassy Network, in which we regularly exchange experiences and ideas with other Embassies.

As part of our local commitment to sustainability and green mobility, the Embassy, in partnership with the City of Warsaw, installed a bike repair station in April 2025. The station now forms part of the growing urban infrastructure that combines bike lanes, repair stations, bikes for hire and other elements to render Warsaw's mobility greener. Our station is located opposite the Embassy on the popular route along Lazienki Park. To mark the official opening of the bike repair station, we invited panelists and guests from various fields to discuss progress and the further potential of green mobility in Poland.

Exhibition: "CLEANTECH - technologia dla zielonej przyszłości / technology for a green future"

Green technology is an important component of future developments; Switzerland is a leading country in innovation and is implementing the sustainable development goals of Agenda 2030. The CLEANTECH exhibition thus presented innovative technological solutions developed and implemented by researchers and entrepreneurs from Switzerland. These covered various sub-areas such as water, agriculture, e-mobility, recycling and energy.

Between October 2021 and November 2022, “CLEANTECH – technologia dla zielonej przyszłości” (Technology for a green future) was shown at partner institutions in various Polish cities. The video by the University of Technology Łódź offers an insight into the exhibition:
