On November 23, the Swiss Innovation Forum Taipei, organized by the Trade Office of Swiss Industries, took place at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel in Taipei.
The Swiss Innovation Forum Taipei set out to explain the secret of Switzerland's success regarding innovation: Switzerland is top in the world when it comes to innovation, according to the Global-Innovation-Index, and ranks second in the Global-Competitiveness-Index. It also answered questions regarding the cooperation between industries, academia and the government, and what has to be done to ensure that innovative research finds its way into products and markets. Another central topic was the question of what practices used in Switzerland could be applied in Taiwan.
Notable stakeholders from industry, academia and government bodies discussed the chances and challenges of cooperation between different sectors and elaborated which frameworks are conducive to the continuous creation of innovation. With over 350 participants and outstanding speakers from both Switzerland and Taiwan including Mauro Dell'Ambrogio, State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), Mei-hua Wang, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Taiwan, representatives of the well-known Swiss companies ABB, UBS, CSEM, IMD, Logitech and Swiss start-up Flyability, as well as a professor of the ETH Zurich, the Forum was a big success. Thanks to the diverse backgrounds of the speakers, a broad insight into innovation in Switzerland was made possible.
