Ambassador Florence Tinguely Mattli and President John Pombe Magufuli shake hands at State House in Dar es Salaam

Switzerland has promised continued bilateral relations with Tanzania in various sectors of development with an emphasis on developing vocational training. 

The Swiss ambassador to Tanzania, Ms. Florence Tinguely Mattli, gave the assurance when she met President John Magufuli at State House on the 23rd of December, 2015 in Dar es Salaam. 

Ambassador Florence told the President that there are a number of projects being implemented by her country in cooperation with Tanzania. Switzerland intends to put emphasis on vocational education so as to empower youth in acquiring relevant knowledge and skills that would enable them to produce goods and earn a living, similar to what is being done in Switzerland. 

The two also discussed about strengthening bilateral relations in investment and President Magufuli invited Swiss investors to do business in Tanzania. He also invited Switzerland to support strengthening port services and the country’s capacity to fight corruption. 

President Magufuli praised Switzerland for cooperating with Tanzania through the Ifakara Health Institute in facing various health challenges including combating malaria. The President promised that the government will continue to use the institution in supporting efforts to tackle diseases.
