Support to the Reform of the Agriculture and Forestry Colleges in Lao PDR (SURAFCO)

Based on the government’s strategy, SURAFCO Phase III supports quality teaching in all five Agriculture and Forestry Colleges of Laos: college management, needs-based infrastructure, teaching equipment, knowledge sharing and exchanges. This is a key contribution to implement the Reform Strategy towards 2020 in order to increase the number of qualified agricultural and extension workers who can fulfil the need to move from subsistence-based to a market-based agriculture.

Assistance to refugees in Yusuf Batil Camp through the provision of life-saving nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene services

Yusuf Batil Camp is the second largest refugee camp in the Maban area of South Sudan, with a population of 41,082 (UNHCR, October 2016). Due to low government capacity to provide services, refugees depend on United Nations (UN) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) partners to provide all essential services such as water, sanitation, emergency nutrition and health care.

The SSHF is a multi-donor pooled fund that supports the timely allocation and disbursement of donor resources to humanitarian partners to respond to the most critical humanitarian needs in a strategic and coordinated manner. With contributions to several Clusters, the Cooperation Office in Juba has strategic interest in supporting the coordination of the numerous humanitarian interventions in South Sudan, which is a key for an effective response to the current crises.

Associazione Amici Dell Oasis Togo - Food Aid Swiss Dairy Products (Togo)

Through the usage of food aid in the form of Swiss dairy products, Swiss Humanitarian Aid contributes to the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, undernourishment, and disease. The SDC’s Humanitarian Aid administers the credit granted by parliament for a yearly amount of some CHF 20 million destined for the purchase of Swiss dairy products and their use for the benefit of the needy. Its task is to ensure a sustainable, targeted, and closely monitored food aid.

Sharique Phase IV : SDC LGov Programme

Sharique has developed a proven capacity development model for urban municipalities strengthening participative and inclusive development planning, transparent budgeting, taxation and representation of women and poor citizens in decision-making and service delivery. In this exit phase, the model will be internalized and applied in two additional districts by national training institutions, empowering 0.8 million citizens to influence planning and provision of public services.

Motorable Local Roads Bridge Programme (MLRBP) – Phase III

MLRBP III will contribute directly to improved livelihoods of 1.2 million rural people through technical assistance in bridge building and facilitating improved access. Lack of access to services, markets and opportunities remains one of the reasons for high poverty. Bridges on local roads are critical for an all year round access for the rural poor, creating economic and social development opportunities for them, and reducing the huge economic costs they incur for travel, trade, health and farm inputs.

Through the lntegrated Local Development Project (ILDP) Switzerland supports Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in establishing a modern development planning system country wide which responds to citizens‘ needs and allows efficient use of budgets and external funds. Skills for Employment Tanzania – SET

SET seeks to enhance youth (self) employment by improving the Vocational Skills Development (VSD) system. Improve the production, availability and access to nutritious food for vulnerable IDPs, returnees and host communities in north-eastern Nigeria by the provision of agricultural production inputs such as seeds, tools and fertilizer. The provision of agricultural production will complement the emergency food assistance provided by the WFP and enable farmers to produce enough food, as well as to meet the most vulnerable households’ immediate food needs.
