The Development Assistance Group (DAG) and Rural Economic Development & Food Security (RED-FS) platforms are two development policy fora between Development Partners (DPs) and the Government of Ethiopia (GoE). They play a critical role in the implementation, coordination and monitoring GoE’s 2nd Growth & Transformation Plan[1] (GTPII). This contribution will allow Switzerland to actively participate in discussions and to link its programmes to existing policy processes for upscaling and policy influencing.

Life-saving assistance to Conflict-affected population in Eastern Ukraine

Since 2014, the armed conflict in Ukraine led to massive displacement of civilian population and destruction of infrastructures and private properties. Since February 2015, Swiss Humanitarian Aid (SHA) has organised five humanitarian convoys on road and rail with water treatment materials and medical supplies to the Donetsk region for the affected population on both sides of the “contact line”, inter alia providing chemicals in sufficient quantity to provide safe drinking water for some 4 mio people.

Program Contribution to the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR)

ICHR is the Palestinian national Human Rights ombudsman, dedicated to supporting Palestinian citizens’ rights. It’s an independent institution which monitors the performance of the government and its compliance with legal and human rights obligations, advices the authorities to improve the respect of human rights in the oPt and support victims of human rights violations. SDC will continue with four other donors to finance its core budget and support its institutional development. This project is a direct contribution to the democratic state building agenda of Switzerland.

Enhancing Primary Health Care Services in Tajikistan

Health indicators in Tajikistan are among the poorest in Central Asia. The health system suffers from poor quality of health care services, chronic underfunding, and the implementation of the ongoing reforms is slow. The SDC project supports these reforms by increasing the planning and management capacities of health institutions at all levels, investing in basic rehabilitation of infrastructure, and by empowering the population to take responsibility for their own health and to hold the state accountable.

Accountability for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda

The 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is the internationally agreed guiding framework for sustainable development. The High-level Political Forum (HLPF), including its yearly Voluntary National Reviews (VNR) and thematic reviews, is at the centre of the follow-up and review process for measuring progress and for accountability to citizens. This proposal includes contributions to three partner organisations for implementing three components which will strengthen accountability of the Agenda at global and national levels by providing evidence to measure progress and by enabling a substantial role of different stakeholders in the process.

L’allevamento di bestiame è una fonte di reddito importante per la maggior parte della popolazione rurale in Georgia, Armenia e Azerbaigian. Tuttavia, molti contadini conducono un’economia di sussistenza e, di conseguenza, riescono a malapena a coprire il proprio fabbisogno. Il progetto persegue l’obiettivo di rafforzare le piccole aziende agricole e di creare l’accesso ai mercati, per far sì che possano vendere miele, carne, formaggio e lana e aumentare in modo sostenibile il loro reddito.

Colombia: ACH-E; Schools and communities for peace - recovery of the social, productive and economic conditions of 14 communities affected by armed violence in the departments of Putumayo, Cordoba and Nariño

SDC will support ACH-E in finding lasting solutions to peace and the recovery of population affected by the armed conflict/violence in the departments of Putumayo, Cordoba and Nariño. The focus of the 5th phase will be on improve authorities capacities to address early recovery needs and guarantee the delivery of basic services, while bridges between the state institutions and the communities will be strengthened.

Shomoshti – Prosperity for the Poor and Disadvantaged

Over 180,000 rural poor and disadvantaged households will enhance the productivity of their farming and cottage businesses through the use of improved technical and market services. This will result in increased incomes and the ability to pay for social services. Through the strengthening of voice and participation of the poor and disadvantaged in local planning, their access to services in nutrition, health and education, and thus wellbeing, will be improved.

Global Blue Peace: Le Pôle Eau de Genève pour l’eau, la paix et la sécurité

Le Pôle Eau de Genève – Geneva Water Hub (GWH) regroupe les capacités centrales pour l’hydrodiplomatie au sein de la Genève internationale. En s’appuyant sur ses trois composantes (savoir & éducation, think tank, réseau), le GWH agit comme Secrétariat du Panel Global de Haut Niveau pour l’Eau et la Paix (7F-09770.01) et de son groupe d’amis. L’objectif de cette seconde phase est de poursuivre les réalisations du GWH pour l’hydrodiplomatie ainsi que de procéder à son institutionnalisation.
