Integral water and sanitation management for peacebuilding in rural areas ASIR-SABA Colombia

01.12.2014 - 31.12.2017

Many countries transitioning to a higher economic status still struggle on the Water and Sanitation component. In such countries where water supply or sanitation have been installed aggregate outcomes tends to mask that the quality of services is poor, that inequalities are increasing and improvements in access do often not reach those groups who suffer most. New models of intervention and financing strategy are required for such countries where the majority of poor population is concentrated. Through this new initiative By finalizing a unique scaling-up process in Peru and replicating it in post conflicts areas of Colombia SDC will also enrich the global debate on the fulfillment of the SDGs and the gradual exercise of human right to water with a new model of intervention and financing strategy.

WFP, Secondment

01.12.2014 - 28.02.2017

The country suffers from one of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the world. Over half of children under 5 years are chronically malnourished (stunted) and one-fifth of Afghan women of child-bearing age are underweight. The operating landscape in Afghanistan will become increasingly challenging over the medium term as international troops withdraw, foreign aid levels decline, and presidential and parliamentary elections remain contested. Growing insecurity resulting from these pivotal transitions could further impede humanitarian access to a third of the population is food-insecure and experiences high levels of undernutrition due to protracted conflict, frequent natural disasters, low development, weak institutional capacities and volatile food prices. Food insecurity and undernutrition must be addressed to respond to humanitarian needs and promote economic growth and stability in the country.

Myanmar: Support to the 2015 Elections

01.12.2014 - 30.11.2018

The 2015 general elections are arguably Myanmar’s single most important step in its current historical political transition. They would be the first major democratic elections in the country in 50 years and will determine who will lead the country, its profound reforms and peace process at this crucial time. If sufficiently credible, transparent, inclusive and free of violence, they may lead to a scale up of intergovernmental support and direct foreign investment.
