2023 Annual Allocation to WFP Country Strategic Plans

Against historic levels of food insecurity due to conflicts and climate change, Switzerland supports annually in 28 SDC priority countries operations of the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide humanitarian and development assistance. It funds indistinctively Country Strategic Plans, incorporating all WFP programmes or projects, based on affected population needs and potential synergies with other local partners, especially national governments and civil society.

ACTED: Strengthening humanitarian coordination and access to safe and dignified protection in Libya

01.02.2019 - 31.01.2020

Through the current intervention, ACTED will adopt a twofold approach aiming to contribute to strengthen the response to protection cases in Libya through enhanced coordination and provision of cash assistance. On the one hand, ACTED will strengthen response capacities through the distribution of one-off cash grants based on ongoing protection monitoring activities. On the other hand, the project will support the voices of INGOs in the humanitarian coordination structure, by developing the activities of the INGO Forum.

North Africa Cultural Programme (NACP), Phase 1

By developing a Regional Cultural Programme, Switzerland seeks to facilitate intercultural dialogue and exchange as a foundation for peace and conflict sensitive development in North Africa and to foster artistic expression as a driver of change in support to the challenges of transition. This will promote peaceful coexistence, political stability and social cohesion in North Africa, hence providing a contribution to the prevention of violent extremism and alternatives for the fulfillment of North African youth in their own societies.

UNICEF Country Office Libya

Libya remains trapped in a protracted economic crisis, insecurity, and political deadlock leading to an increase in vulnerabilities and in the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance. As estimated by the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) Libya (2017), 1.33 million people, including some 439,000 children, are in immediate need of humanitarian aid and protection and 241,000 children require quality education.

DRC: Improve conditions of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants (mixed migrants) and capacities of relevant stakeholders in Libya, including local authorities and civil society

Fleeing persecution, violence and armed conflict, mixed migrant groups from Sub-Sahara and the Middle East continue to arrive in Libya despite a fragile protection environment. Due to the ongoing instability and the lack of a national protection system, they are highly vulnerable and risk abuse and detention. The project aims to foster a protective environment for mixed migrants in detention centers and camps in and around Tripoli through improved protection and humanitarian assistance.

Programme Development North Africa

Originally conceived to support the development of activities under the Swiss North Africa Programme launched from scratch in 2011, the 5th phase with a much reduced budget allows deepening relevant thematic and context knowledge, developing and formulating future strategic priorities and setting-up adapted or new projects for SDC in a fragile and complex environment. For 2015-16 the focus is on preparatory work for the Swiss North Africa programme 2017-20.

CESVI ist in Bengasi tätig und verteilt dort Medikamente sowie Hygiene-Kits.

Libyen ist ein beliebter Ausgangspunkt für Tausende von Menschen, die auf der Flucht vor Gewalt und Elend über das Mittelmeer nach Europa gelangen wollen. Die DEZA unterstützt in Libyen zwei NGO, die sich für Migrantinnen und Migranten einsetzen, die Opfer von Angriffen und willkürlichen Inhaftierungen sind. 2015 hat die Schweiz für Migration und den Schutz der Zivilbevölkerung in Libyen zwei Millionen Franken zur Verfügung gestellt.
