As the official representation of Switzerland, the Embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic and financial affairs, legal arrangements, science, education and culture.

The Embassy in Wellington is also responsible for diplomatic and consular relations with the Republic of Fiji, the Cook Islands, Samoa, the Kingdom of Tonga and Tuvalu as well as for consular relations with Niue and American Samoa.

Important announcement: As of 14th of October 2024, the access to the counters of the Swiss Embassy will only be possible by appointment.

Due to important construction work in the building regarding earthquake safety, the Embassy's counters are currently only open to the public by appointment, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Appointments can be requested by telephone (+64 4 472 15 93) or by email (wellington@eda.admin.ch).

The Embassy can only allocate appointments for services where personal attendance is essential. For other matters we are, of course, available as usual by email (wellington@eda.admin.ch) and telephone (+64 4 472 15 93).

Appointment for a Swiss identity document (passport and/or ID card)
If you do require a new Swiss identity document (passport and/or ID card), please apply online (passport and ID). You will then be contacted to arrange a personal appointment in Wellington.

Appointment for a visa application
Please submit the application online first and then send the documents to the Embassy by email as described on the factsheets “Requirements for a Tourist/Visitor/Business visa”: Online application and Schengen visa requirements.
Appointments are limited. It is therefore recommended that you submit your visa application early (applications can be submitted up to 6 months before the planned trip).
