Jean-Etienne Liotard of Geneva (1702-89) was a major artist of the 18th century and an eccentric global citizen of his time. His finest portraits display an astonishing hyper-realism achieved through a combination of incredible, intense observation and remarkable technical skills. This is the first time his work has been comprehensively celebrated in Britain, with the Ambassador of Switzerland in the UK as the sole patron.
Following a successful run at the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh the exhibition travels to London in October where it will be on show at the Royal Academy of Arts until 31 January 2016.
