The Swiss Kids Day, organized for the second time on a voluntary basis by the staff of the Swiss Embassy with the support of the Swiss Club Tokyo, attracted a big turnout with more than 160 guests attending the event. The Kids Day is a rare opportunity for Swiss Families based in Japan to meet and for their children to play together and practice the national languages.
After a welcome speech by Ambassador Jean-François Paroz, the kids had many opportunities to participate in a variety of activities during the course of the day, including an Easter chocolate egg hunt in the garden, face-painting, Easter egg painting, pizza-making, book reading and many more. The guests also enjoyed culinary delicacies from native Switzerland including Swiss “Bratwurst” sausages, “Rösti”, freshly baked bread and Swiss wine (for the parents). The Tamagawa Alphorn Club entertained the guests with Alphorn and traditional Swiss music. Towards the end of the event the children cracked up at the jokes of “Mr. Magico”.
The event was graciously supported by the companies which kindly contributed Swiss products: ARYZTA Food Solutions Japan (Hiestand bread) and M-Industry (Rösti, biscuits and “Migros” ice tea). The children were happy to find and take home the many Lindt chocolate eggs which were hidden by the Easter rabbit in the garden.
