Hintergrund The Red Cross programmes responds to the combined negative effects of the Syria crisis, the economic crisis and the ongoing armed conflict. In Lebanon, 20% of Syrian refugees still live in informal (not permanent) very basic settlements  often next or within agricultural land. They are in deplorable water, sanitation and  hygiene conditions which often leads to intercommunal conflicts. As of 16 October, there is 779,613 internally displaced persons (IDPs). 191,518  IDPs have  taken refuge in 984 shelters mainly schools and other public buildings including in  the vicinity of informal tented settlements.
Ziele Improve water and sanitation infrastructure and hygiene practices to reduce  exposure of vulnerable communities to WASH-related diseases, increase their  resilience, and preserve their dignity through environmentally sustainable approaches.
