ThinkSwiss is a scholarship program managed by the Science Office of the Embassy of Switzerland in Washington, D.C., with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ottawa, Canada. The program is funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI). This program aims to promote research opportunities in Switzerland for U.S. and Canadian students and to foster exchange between Swiss, U.S., and Canadian universities and research institutions.

The ThinkSwiss research scholarship offers the opportunity for undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students and researchers, respectively, who are enrolled at a U.S. or Canadian university at the time of travel, to pursue a two- to three-month research project at a public Swiss institution. Successful candidates will receive grants according to the length of their stay, with funding averaging around USD 1,600 per month.

The ThinkSwiss program also offers travel grants for U.S. and Canadian participants to attend several Swiss summer schools. The participants benefit from hands-on research, training and exposure to cutting-edge issues within their professional research community. Participants are selected by the respective summer school.
