In his opening remarks, Ambassador Urs Schmid expressed his satisfaction that Regent was joining the growing number of Swiss companies operating already in Serbia. He underlined that Switzerland is the sixth largest foreign direct investor in Serbia, with a total of EUR 1.33 bn, and generating employment of approximately 12’000 persons. He noted that outsourcing the production to Svilajnac was certainly a bold decision of Regent, and a decision which was certainly not taken lightly, as since its founding in 1908 the company has concentrated production in Switzerland. As Ambassador Schmid pointed out, this decision can be seen as a vote of confidence and trust towards its new location and he wished Regent an immediate and long lasting success.
