Myanmar's youth choose careers in hairdressing, mechanics and the hotel industry

The SDC launched a vocational education and training programme in Myanmar in 2014 which offers thousands of young people the chance to learn a wide range of trades. Courses combine theory and practical training in the form of internships. The programme is being offered in the country's two main cities (Yangon and the capital Nay Pyi Taw) and two disadvantaged districts in south-eastern Myanmar. The SDC is also committed to policy changes and developing new standards in the vocational skills development sector in the country.
