Contribution to Swiss Water Partnership (SWP)
The Swiss Water Partnership is a multi-stakeholder platform bringing together Swiss organizations from the academic, civil society including youth, public and private sectors, to join forces and find innovative solutions for water challenges in developing and transition countries. Umbrella of Swiss water stakeholders at the international level, carrying the diversity of the Swiss voice, the SWP is an important complementary partner to SDC to accelerate the 2030 water agenda.

Background |
Water is key to life and sustainable economic development. However, and despite multiple efforts, the world is not on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 that aims at ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. Switzerland, as Europe’s water tower acknolwedges that more needs to be done to accelerate the way towards achieving SDG 6, reason why many guiding strategic documents including Switzerland's International Cooperation Strategy 2021-24 confirm water as a priority theme. Based on its multifaceted members out of Switzerland’s vibrant water sector, the Swiss Water Partnership makes Swiss water expertise available to contribute to the acceleration towards achieving SDG 6. |

Medium-term outcomes |
Outcome 1: Networking, exchange and learning - SWP members have increased their knowledge and expertise of current water related topics through the platform’s work. Outcome 2: Building solutions together - The platform has facilitated SWP members to use existing and develop new partnerships to jointly create projects, approaches and innovations. Outcome 3: The Swiss voice in global spaces for water security - The Swiss voice contributes to SWP members’ visibility and is promoting Swiss water innovation internationally. Outcome 4: Platform development - The platform has used the available means of communication to share the members’ thematic expertise |

Expected results: Outputs 1.2 & 1.3: Swiss knowledge and expertise are shared/enriched and exchanges between young people and senior water experts enhanced Output 2.3: SWP members contribute jointly to global policy dialogues on SDG 6 Output 3.3: Linkage of Swiss expertise/solutions to market demand Output 4.2: mobilization of resources towards securing the financial sustainability of SWP (and independence from SDC) Results from previous phases: - Consolidation and diversification of SWP’s membership base - Further fostered the knowledge exchange and networking activities between the members - Founding of the SWP youth group and launching of activities - Supporting the development of the Dispatch on Switzerland’s International Cooperation 21-24 by a consolidated public statement in the consultation procedure Insights: COVID-19 pandemic as huge challenge, since most of the national and international events needed to be cancelled/postponed. |
