Ukraine East Europe Foundation (EEF) - Building capacity of local CSOs to provide protection services to women and minorities

Vulnerable conflict affected populations, in particular:

• Ethnic groups (incl. Roma)
• GBV survivors
• Women and girls
• Women and girls with disabilities
• Older women
• Widows and spouses with missing husband
• Human trafficking victims
• LGBTIQ+, sexual minorities

1. Participating civil society organisations provide more protection services to vulnerable women and minorities
2. Participating civil society organisations increase their capacity and access to funding so they can design, fundraise for, and implement their own strategies and programmes
3. Other humanitarian funders use this model for channeling funding to local CSOs who provide protection services

Risultati principali attesi:  

1. Civil society organisations benefit from the Small Grants Program and offer increased types/coverage of services to affected population
2. Vulnerable people, in particular women at risk of trafficking or GBV, receive better and more timely protection
3. CSOs received recommendations on institutional development through an organizational capacity assessment
4. Civil society organisations benefit from the capacity-building and implement organizational changes

Risultati fasi precedenti:   All international humanitarian agencies agree that local civil society organisations are playing an essential role in protection work, in particular in the protection of vulnerable women, and especially as state services are overburdened. Yet according to the Protection Cluster, as of May 2022 only 1% of humanitarian funding for Ukraine goes directly to local CSOs. Other minorities, such as Roma or LGBTQI+ have CSOs dedicated to their support, but these have not been included for humanitarian financing.
