UNICEF mandate is to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. In emergency settings, UNICEF leads or co-leads clusters of Nutrition, WASH, Education and two areas of responsibility (AOR) in child protection and gender based violence.

UNICEF’s activities and priorities are correlated with Swizerland humanitarian frameworks. UNICEF is an important partner for implementation of Switzerland Humanitarian Aid and is one of the main FDFA partners for the implementation of the Disaster Risk Reduction, WASH and protection activities as underlined in the Message to the Parliament 2013-2016.

Other donors such as DfID, ECHO, SIDA, Norway and Netherlands will or might support the UNICEF Geneva EMOPS Division.

Coordinamento con altri progetti e attori

Switzerland is coordinating and pursuing a dialogue with such donors in foras such as the Executive Board, the ODSG and the GHD. Switzerland’s support through this project amounts around 4.5% of the total project budget.
