Prior to the annual meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, a civil society conference will take place for the fifth time from 2 to 3 December 2014. At the civil society parallel conference, civil society organisations from the OSCE area will consider the implementation of the OSCE member States' commitments from a human perspective, covering areas such as human rights, fundamental freedoms, democracy, and the rule of law. The civil society conference is being organised by the Civic Solidarity Platform with the support of the Swiss Peace Foundation swisspeace and the FDFA.
The aim of the conference is to find answers to current challenges regarding the human dimension and to strengthen the OSCE institutions by developing a common strategy. The specific recommendations approved at the civil society conference will be officially accepted by OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Didier Burkhalter, before the Ministerial Council meeting.
