Switzerland and Mexico have committed to boosting trade under the free trade agreement. Switzerland is one of Mexico's largest foreign investors, with direct investments totalling CHF 5.4 billion in 2021. During that same year, over 47’623 people were working for Swiss companies in Mexico.
In 2022, Switzerland imported goods worth CHF 2 billion from Mexico, mainly precious metals, vehicles, and machinery. Swiss exports – worth CHF 1.6 billion – were comprised in large part of chemical and pharmaceutical products, machinery, and precision instruments, clocks and jewellery.
To promote trade, a Swiss Business Hub was opened in Mexico in May 2012 by Switzerland Global Enterprise (SGE) and a Swiss-Mexican chamber of commerce (SwissCham México) was established there in November 2016.
