Contexte

To improve the livability and the resilience of municipalities to climate-change, compact, climate-sensitive urban development is an important factor for economic and social development. The importance of climate change in the urban development is increasingly recognized by the Kosovo government, but implementation is still lagging behind. Additionally, national and local institutions lack the instruments that are necessary for a targeted orientation of urban development towards the requirements of climate resilience.

Objectifs

The project objective is to improve the institutional and planning framework for a climate-sensitive, compact and resilient urban development in Kosovo at the national level and in three selected municipalities by the implementation of demonstration projects, in line with EU guidelines.

Résultats

Principaux résultats attendus:  

# MESPI and three selected municipalities have access to urban planning instruments and approaches that are in alignement with the EU Green Deal strategic objective of décarbonisation

# MESPI/Insitute of Spatial Planning (ISP) have strengthened their roles as a provider of technical advice to municipalities

# Municipalities attain skills in the formulation of a pipeline of projects for climate-sensitive compact urban development

# Municipalities are exposed to practical experience through the technical support given by the project, in executing quick-win projects, designed to enhance the attractiveness of selected areas.
