Contexte The Agenda 2030 and several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as the Explanatory Report on the Dispatch 2021 - 2024 call for strengthening the economic resilience of poor and vulnerable groups via fostering Private Sector Development (PSD), Financial Sector Development (FSD) and Vocational Skills Development (VSD). On the same time, and in line with the necessity of working in partnerships to realise the SDGs as a whole and, specifically, the SDG number 17, SDC has decided to considerably strengthen its Engagement with the Private Sector. The recently created Cluster lnclusive Economic Development (IED) is in charge of supporting SDC's operational units in adequately planning and implementing PSD, FSD, VSD and EPS projects.
Objectifs Sustainable economic growth, creation of decent job, inclusive education and – via the PSE modality – the mobilization of private resources towards the achievement of the Agenda 2030 in its entirety.
Groupes cibles Staff of the Cluster IED, SDC staff of operational units at Headquarters and in field offices; trough the network also partner organisations.
Effets à moyen terme

Specific objectives of the project are:

  1. To strengthen the competences of SDC staff and other relevant stakeholders and to foster knowledge management and organisational learning within SDC,
  2. to promote the creation of innovative instruments and approaches,
  3. to ensure an effective communication on SDC practices towards interested stakeholders – including other donor agencies – and the general public.
Résultats

Principaux résultats attendus:   The project uses a comprehensive approach and foresees several specific intervention lines aimed at supporting SDC's units in strengthening the economic empowerment of poor and vulnerable people and in leveraging additional, private resources towards the implementation of the Agenda 2030. Some intervention lines shall ensure access to specialised thematic backstopping services, some shall specifically facilitate capacity building and prepare the ground for innovative instruments and approaches in the relatively new area of EPS, and some shall foster partnerships.
