Contexte | With conflict increasing in intensity and geographic coverage, poverty is increasing and the need for humanitarian aid is on the rise. Due to political uncertainties and the fragile security situation, economic growth recovers cautiously (from 1.9% in 2014 to 2.2% in 2016) but remains below the population growth of 3%, putting at risk previous achievements in poverty reduction. State capacity continues to improve, not least thanks to large-scale support programs such as ARTF. However, these positive outcomes are highly sensitive to the level and modality of aid commitments, since 63% (2016) of the state budget is depending on foreign aid. Against these challenges, the National Unity Government (NUG) defined its development priorities in the Afghanistan National Peace and Development Framework 2017-2021 (ANPDF). At the Brussels Conference in 2016, the international community renewed its commitment to support Afghanistan, which is key to meet the ambitious objectives. |
Objectifs | Afghanistan reaches the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular 1-9 and 16. |
