The dairy sector in Ukraine has been badly hit by recent Russian military action. Hygiene during milking is critical to ensure food safety and to avoid potential diseases, and farmers’ ability to afford these has been disrupted. To re-establish dairy farms financial viability, milking hygiene aid will be provided through a time-limited liquidity injection into the system, benefiting farmers in the recently de-occupied Oblasts of Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv.

Resultate
|
Erwartete Resultate: -milk hygiene and milk safety material purchased and distributed to farmers.
Resultate von früheren Phasen: Since 2015, Switzerland has been supporting the Ukrainian dairy industry in establishing a risk-based food safety control system in the dairy value chain. In 2015 with the start of the Swiss funded technical support project, only 6,6% of milk delivered for processing was Extra-grade milk (equivalent to EU requirements); by February 2022, every third litre of processed milk (32,1%) met EU-requirements. This increase is the result of continuous improvement of production practices and good hygiene introduced at Ukrainian milking farms.
